Historically and legally, the Sheriff and his deputies are
responsible for all law enforcement functions within the County. The
foundation of the modern Sheriff's Department is to maintain the peace,
to protect life and property, and to provide service to the community.
The Sheriff's law enforcement duties are extensive. In addition to
serving as the County's principal law enforcement officer, the Sheriff
has duties as an officer of the court, which include:
- Service and execution of warrants;
- Courtroom security and related duties;
- Service of summonses, subpoenas and other civil processes.
